RICHARD GUNAWAN
Vice President, Business & Sustainability for LRQA Asia (Hong Kong)

LRQA is part of the Lloyd’s Register group, a registered charity in the UK. Globally LRQA has verified a number of CSR reports for multinational corporations. Before Richard’s recent appointment to LRQA Hong Kong, he was a part of the LRQA team in Australia. In addition to CSR, Richard has been actively promoting the adoption of international standards such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 to improve environmental practices and employees’ welfare. Outside his corporate life, Richard dedicates his time to academic institutions in Asia and Australia. He is often invited to speak at university forums and is actively involved in educating students on making a positive contribution to society.

PAUL ZAMAN
Founder and CEO, Qualvin Advisory Pte Ltd (Singapore)

Paul Zaman has more than 25 years of experience in the high technology sector as a strategy consultant and has held senior management roles. He has extensive expertise in equity markets and was head of Asian Telecommunications Equity Research for ING Baring (Singapore). Paul is also a recognised global advisor to governments on Information Technology and Telecommunications strategy and execution. He is a long-standing member of both the Singapore and the Australian Institute of Directors and is an author, speaker and coach on triple bottom line performance and social responsibility. Paul leads investment analysis and deal enrichment for private equity deals and mentors C-Level executives on strategic investor relations.

MATTHIAS GELBER
Recipient of the Greenest Person on the Planet Award 2008,
environmental speaker and entrepreneur (Germany)

Matthias Gelber is an internationally recognised environmental speaker and trainer, with experience in 38 countries in both the public and private sector. Matthias came ahead of 600 international participants in Canada to win the Greenest Person on the Planet Award 2008. A native of Germany, Matthias holds a Masters in Environmental Science in the UK, and is co founder of Maleki GmbH, a German-based start-up company specialising in low carbon footprint, high performance green building materials. Matthias has trees planted in his name in Thailand, Japan and Panama to offset his carbon emissions in his daily living and travels. Matthias currently resides in Kuala Lumpur and is working on an initiative to have 1 million trees planted worldwide. He is also the founder of the Facebook-based group Eco Warriors Malaysia.

UJJWAL K. CHOWDHURY
Dean of the Symbiosis International University
Director of Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication (India)

Ujjwal is Dean of the Faculty of Media, Communication and Design at Symbiosis International University, a private multi-institutional University in Pune, Maharashtra, India. He has held previous posts as a media advisor for the Nippon Foundation and for the Goodwill Ambassador of World Health Organisation, working out of Delhi and Geneva. He holds a Masters in International Relations and is also Managing Editor of the Indian diaspora magazine, New Global Indian (www.newglobalindian.com). Ujjwal has spoken at numerous media, environment and human rights seminars, including an address at the United Nations Human Rights Commission, Geneva, on issues relating to human rights violations of people affected by leprosy even after being cured.

YAHYA KAMALIPOUR, PhD
Head, Department of Communication and Creative Arts
Director, Center for Global Studies, Purdue University (USA)

Dr. Yahya Kamalipour is professor of mass and international communication, head of the Department of Communication and Creative Arts, and Director of the Center for Global Studies, Purdue University Calumet, Indiana, USA.  His areas of interest and research include globalisation, media impact, international communication, advertising, cultural diversity, stereotyping, Middle East media, and new communication technologies.  He has delivered invited speeches in every continent, interviewed by numerous global media, and published 14 books, including Global Communication and a forthcoming volume on the controversial 2009 Iranian elections. With 30 years of teaching and administrative experience, he has been at Purdue University Calumet since 1986.

ERIC MOUSSET, PhD
Founder and CEO of TCE Co., Ltd (Cambodia)

Dr. Eric Mousset graduated in 1994 (Ph.D.) from Paris-6 “Pierre et Marie Curie” University, France. Innovation, entrepreneurship, and Industry-Academia linkage development have been the common threads of his consultant career path, across Europe, Australia, and South-East Asia. In 2006, Dr Mousset set a new challenge for himself and chose to experience the reality of emerging economies from within. His contribution to the Cambodian business environment has mostly revolved around fruitful consulting on SRI, social entrepreneurship, and CSR. His current responsibilities include: founder/manager of TCE Co., Ltd —Cambodia's premier CSR/SRI consultancy; Director at Cambodia's IT Industry Association; Director at the International Institute for Scientific Research; and postgraduate academic development at Phnom Penh-based PUC and RULE Universities, including lecturing change-making courses such as Business Ethics, Organisational Development, Change Management, and International Entrepreneurship.

NEELAM CHHIBER
Co-Founder of Industree Crafts Pte Ltd (India)

An industrial designer by training, Neelam is co-founder of Industree Crafts, a social entrepreneurship organisation based in Bangalore, India that focuses on triple bottom lines – financial, social and environmental. Industree connects the artisan and the market through a hybrid business model: Industree Crafts Pte Ltd (‘for-profit’) and Industree Crafts Foundation (‘non-profit’). The former component involves retail, design and sourcing while the latter acts as a conduit for capacity building, skill training and design development. Industree supports the livelihood of rural artisans through market access, producing contemporary products using traditional crafts and raw materials. Industree currently works with more than 3000.

JULIAN HYDE
General Manager, Reef Check Malaysia (Malaysia)

A scientist by training with a degree in biochemistry, Julian has worked for more than 10 years as a management consultant. A native of Britain, Julian spent six years in Russia managing a variety of environmental consulting programmes before moving to Malaysia in 1990 to manage an environmental consultancy company in Kuala Lumpur. He then relocated to Tioman Island to run his own dive centre, leading to his involvement with Reef Check Malaysia. Julian has since moved back to Kuala Lumpur and is the general manager at Reef Check Malaysia, overseeing the Malaysia branch of the world’s largest international coral reef monitoring organisation. Reef Check is a non-profit organisation with a mission to protect and rehabilitate reefs worldwide.

YASMIN RASYID
Founder, EcoKnights (Malaysia)

Yasmin Rasyid is a biologist by profession and an environmentalist by passion. She has a double degree from Duke University majoring in Contemporary Religion and Biology, and a M.Sc in Biotechnology from the University of Malaya. She has extensive experience as a Scientific Officer with WWF Malaysia, specialising in water pollution issues and technical fieldwork. Her areas of expertise include: endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), human health and pollution and environmental management. Yasmin was also Head of Research and Development for two years at a local biotechnology firm before exiting the corporate and laboratory lifestyle and forming EcoKnights, a non-profit environmental organisation that delivers creative, outreach programmes targeting youths and communities. Yasmin also lectures part-time at Universiti Malaya and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman on environmental ethics and environmental management.

Mark Bytheway
CEO, Sustainable Investment Research Institute (Australia

Mark Bytheway is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Investment Research Institute (SIRIS), a specialist Asian regional investment research group, providing sustainability and governance research and analytical services. Mark holds qualifications in law, economics and accounting, and post-graduate qualifications in Environmental Science. He has more than 20 years of capital markets experience, including work in investment banking with an international credit ratings agency, and eight years in funds management, two of which as Director of Research, Asia Pacific, for an international investment management group. Mark has also spent three years consulting in the areas of environmental risk analysis, environmental liability evaluation and resource valuation. He is also a founding member of the UNEP Australasian SRI Advisory Committee and a Trustee of the OXFAM CAA Ethical Investment Trust.

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Megat Najmuddin
President, Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (Malaysia)

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Megat Najmuddin is the President of both the Federation of Public Listed Companies Berhad (“FPLC”) and the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (“MICG”), and is a prominent figure in the corporate sector. Tan Sri Najmuddin holds an Honours Degree in Law from the University of Singapore and currently sits as the Non-Executive Chairman of five public listed companies: Tradewinds Corporation Berhad, Asian Pac Holdings Berhad, Formis Resources Berhad, MajuPerak Holdings Berhad and SEG International Berhad. Tan Sri Najmuddin is also active in the Institute of Integrity Malaysia (“IIM”), Transparency International Malaysia (TI M), and an Adjunct Professor at Faculty of Law, UUM. He sits as a member of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Directors’ Education Steering Committee and Advisory Board of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). .

Lee Leok Soon
General Manager (Client Services), Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (Malaysia)

With more than 35 years of experience covering corporate governance and finance, best practice issues, shareholder activism and investor issues, Lee Leok Soon is one of Malaysia’s leading business advisors. As the General Manager of Client Services at Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG), Leok Soon is an investor advisor licensed by the Securities Commission of Malaysia for corporate services work at the Group. His previous positions include: Executive Director of Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance and Director of Technical Operations of Malaysian Institute of Accountants. Leok Soon has also lectured part-time to post-graduate MBA and Masters students, and has led training and management courses in corporate finance, corporate governance, and accounting.

Puvan J. Selvanathan
Chief Sustainability Officer, Sime Darby Group (Malaysia)

Puvan J. Selvanathan is the Chief Sustainability Officer of the Sime Darby Group. An architect by profession, Puvan was in practice for over 10 years as Principal of his own firm leading in township and commercial developments across Asia. He extended this experience into designing architectures for 'e-government' systems enabling electronic submission and urban management enterprise solutions in Malaysia. Puvan innovated a public-private partnership delivery system that led to his appointment to UN Expert Groups in Information Communications and Satellite Technologies; and he also wrote the E-Government Strategy for Mozambique while a UN and Word Bank expert focusing on Public Sector Reform in transition and emerging nations. Puvan founded the UN Global Compact Local Network in Malaysia whilst Executive Director of the Caux Round Table Malaysia, the national chapter of an international non-profit organisation promoting business ethics and good governance. In addition to his architectural training Puvan holds an MBA and is currently completing a doctorate in Corporate Responsibility.

Poul E. Kristensen
Founder, IEN Consultants Sdn Bhd (Denmark)

Poul E. Kristensen holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mechanical and Civil Engineering from the University of Aalborg, Denmark. Poul founded IEN Consultants in Kuala Lumpur, advising companies on energy efficiency in the building and construction sector.
Poul has an extensive background in the field, having worked as a research assistant for five years at the Technical University of Denmark and then as Head of Energy Research and Development for 15 years at the Copenhagen branch of Esbensen Consulting Engineers from Sonderborg, Denmark.
Poul also represents Denmark as technical adviser in the IEA Executive Committee on Energy Conservation in Buildings and Community Systems.
Since 2001, IEN Consultants has been carrying out research and demonstration projects on energy efficiency, sustainability and Environmental Certification of buildings in SE Asia from the office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Ramon Navaratnam
Corporate Adviser, Sunway Group (Malaysia)

Tan Sri Ramon received his Master in Public Administration (Economics) from Harvard in 1969 and an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Oxford Brookes University (UK) in 2000.
Tan Sri Ramon is the Corporate Adviser of the Sunway Group with other positions including: Deputy Chairman of Sunway University College, Director of Monash University Malaysia, Director of the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) and Non-Independent Executive Director of Sunway Construction Bhd.
He joined the Malaysian civil service in 1959 and has held several posts in his long career of 27 years in the Malaysian Treasury where he became Deputy Secretary-General of the Treasury. He was promoted as the Secretary -General of the Ministry of Transport in 1986 before serving as Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank in Washington from 1970 to 1972.
After his retirement from civil service in 1989, he was appointed Chief Executive Offer of Bank Buruh from 1989 to 1994.
Tan Sri Ramon is also a prominent author, having written several books on Malaysia’s socio-economic issues and impacts.
